What you pay for
You pay for tokens — the AI processing used when you:
- Upload and analyze documents — Each file uses tokens for vision, extraction, and indexing
- Chat with your files — Each message and response uses tokens
- Extract memories and app data — Automatic extraction from documents uses tokens
Internal tasks are free — Thread titles, filter suggestions, and background compaction don’t count toward your usage.
OCR is free for a limited time — Image text extraction (OCR) is currently free as a promo.
How many files and chats?
Approximate token usage (varies by document size and complexity):

2 million tokens (Freemium) — usage is weighted (output = 8× input). Approx. 15–40 documents or 200–1,500 chat messages per month, depending on reply length.
16 million tokens (Pro, per month) — same weighting. Roughly 120–320 documents or 1,500–12,000 chat messages per month, depending on reply length. With rollover, you can accumulate up to 192M tokens (about 1,400–3,800 documents or 18,000–140,000 chats at full bank). Each credit expires 1 year after it was added.
How limits work
- Freemium: 2M (weighted) tokens regenerate on the 1st of each month. Unused tokens do not roll over.
- Pro: 16M (weighted) tokens added each month. Unused tokens roll over up to 192M total. Each credit expires 1 year after it was added.
- Weighting: Output tokens count as 8× input tokens so longer AI replies use more of your allowance.
Fair Usage Policy
VaultSafe is designed for personal and reasonable professional use. To keep the service fast and reliable for everyone:
- Plan limits apply. You may not exceed your plan’s token limits. Upgrade if you need more.
- No abuse. Automated scraping, bulk extraction, or use that degrades service for others is not permitted.
- Reserve the right to act. We may throttle, limit, or suspend access if usage violates these terms or impacts system stability.
- Full terms. Our Terms of Service contain the complete Fair Usage Policy and related provisions.
